Do you ever feel like you are not making the most of your potential? Well, it’s about time that changed. In my exploration around the world, I have come to find that every human is made of unlimited potential.
However, a lot of people remain unable to maximize this potential for several reasons. But you don’t have to be one of these people. I would be walking you through two major steps to becoming the person you were meant to be.
Exploring Tony Robbins’ ‘Unleash the Power Within’, this piece is very practical and is part of a larger attempt to help you unleash the power within you. You have all it takes; you only need to stop holding back!

Maximizing Your Potential

Unleashing the power within you simply means maximizing your potential. As easy as it might sound, it can be quite difficult sometimes.
Maximizing your potential requires getting more from yourself in all situations. Achieving more with less and getting better results. But to achieve these desired outcomes, you need to be in the right state of mind.
Your environment, however, plays a very important role in your state of mind. We are all programmed by our environment and it requires a conscious effort to effectively take control of this process.

The interaction of the mind with the environment occurs in two major ways;

1. The Influx of Information

As a young boy growing up in India, a lot of people told me a lot of negative things. Many people believed I would not grow up to become anyone important. So much that when I left home to go to college, some even predicted that I would be sent back home in a few months.
Today, I’m a college graduate with a successful business. A lot of people often ask how I managed to pull it off. I only had to do one thing: BLOCK OUT THE NEGATIVITY!

To most people, this might not be a big thing. However, I have over time come to see that the human mind is wired to absorb from its environment. This absorption process occurs through several channels; the things we see, the things we hear, etc.

Interestingly, although we can control these things to an appreciable level, they are not absolutely within our control. Especially, if we have to interact with a lot of people in the course of work or other activities.

The importance of this influx of information is that these words becomes thoughts, and these thoughts go on to become our beliefs. So, if you absorb a lot of negativity, your mind becomes wired to believe only negative things about yourself.

This is why you must take active control of the influx of information into your mind. Surround yourself with a lot of positivity and for the things you cannot control, simply train yourself not accept the negative things.

By blocking out the negativity, your mind focuses on the positives and they become your beliefs. Positive beliefs help you work towards becoming the best version of yourself; unleashing the greatness within you.

2. The Outflow of Words

Another important point that a lot of people do not pay attention to are the words they say in moments of intense emotion, especially anger and rage. Most times, when people are angry, they tend to say things they don’t mean in the heat of the moment.

Sometimes, these words can cause other people to feel badly about themselves. Sometimes, we feel remorseful later. Even though the damage caused by these words might no longer be reparable at this point.

This is why we must control the type of words we say, irrespective of our state of mind at the time.

Look deep within yourself, do you feel like you are meant for more than you currently are. Then it’s time to start taking active steps towards maximizing your potential. Reaching your full potential requires a good level of commitment and consistency.

The two steps listed above are only some of the steps to help you get started. However, I’m willing to take the walk with you. By following some tested and verified principles, we can achieve the results you want together.
